Family systems trauma
work and you

Families do well if they can. It takes a village to raise a child is an old African proverb. It means that a child needs both the immediate and extended family to overcome adverse experiences like trauma and give them a safe and secure environment.

Family systems trauma work uses a 12 step programme to help break down barriers within the family unit and past experiences to start that healing journey. With blended or more complex family dynamics becoming increasingly common it is common sense that we need to start involving a wider network of that village around the child to move forward and this may even include sets of parents and guardians and social workers to work in the children’s best interests.

Essentially a family conference style of therapy and action plans. This way of working involves all the village around the child rather than part of it so everyone can work to a playbook of how things will look in the future. Collectively working towards a different and more stable and calm future.

This can be done as a combination of in person and online or just online to make sure the whole village works well together.
